Position Summary:
We
are seeking a motivated person to join our multidisciplinary lab
conducting
research on human movement and sports performance. They will work
with
patient populations and athletes to recruit and conduct motion
capture
experiments. The
Life Sciences Motion Capture Lab at NJIT conducts a broad range of
research
projects related to human movement (https://coreresearchlab.com/).
This
position is a great opportunity for a driven person to gain
research-based
experience in the study of human movement and sports injuries.
Essential Functions:
The
purpose of this work is to evaluate human performance and minimize
sports
injuries through longitudinal analyses. They will be expected to
lead one or
more projects that include coordinating with human subjects to
conduct motion
capture experiments, analyzing the data, and presenting study
results to the
research team. This
position includes numerous opportunities for professional growth
and
development, including hands-on research, training in a
multidisciplinary
lab, project management, faculty mentorship, public speaking
through weekly
research meetings and conference presentations, and peer-reviewed
journal
publications.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- MS in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a
related discipline.
- Interested in studying human movement and sports injuries.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience
prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate
to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of
education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for
success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in programming languages (Matlab, Python, C,
C++).
- Experience with wearable sensors (heart rate sensors, inertial
measurement units, etc.).
